New Build and Regeneration Manager

The Gateshead Housing Company
Facilitated the delivery of 231 new build units across 8 sites valued at £22m. This included selecting the constructors, securing funding and managing the delivery once onsite. Originally this was a two year contract and it was extended for a third year. The role also involved developing partnerships at both strategic and operational level with the Homes and Community Agency.

My responsibilities were :

• Procurement of Constructors
• Bid for HCA Funding through IMS System
• Contribute to the development of the Company’s Business Plan
• Manage new build initiatives and provide a high quality, customer focused service
• Develop policies, procedures and working practices necessary to manage the programme and to
secure confidence, recognition and funding from potential partners
• To develop and maintain good working relationships with other agencies. In particular –
the Council; the Homes and Community Agency; the Department of Communities and Local
Government; developers; other ALMOs and Registered Social Landlords
• To appraise and report on the strategic options for the Company with regard to its role and
involvement in new build and regeneration
• To carry out appraisals of potential sites and make recommendations with regards to their
suitability
• To ensure good communications with those affected or potentially affected by the proposed new
build projects
• To manage new build budgets and provide reports as required
• Ensure that the Organisation is aware of all changes in legislation, regulation and best practice
relevant to new build
• The preparation and/or delivery of Board/Committee reports as required by the Chief Executive

 

Regeneration Manager

After being head hunted to return to Lovell I was tasked with setting up a new regional office. This involved building relations with 33 local Housing Associations and 25 Councils. This led to 129 tender opportunities being identified.

Worked within the Land Department. Provided the detailed financial appraisals for any land purchases ranging between £800,000 to £15,000,000.

Progressed opportunities from preferred bidder to completion.
